This course is intended to introduce researchers and those in research-related roles to RDM principles, practices, and tools. The modules emphasize methods to improve the discoverability, reusability, and machine actionability of research outputs, including the use of data standards, ontologies, and schemas.

The modules present RDM concepts broadly applicable to the life sciences, primarily using examples from health and genomics. Learners will find Modules 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 applicable to many domains. Modules 5 and 6 present principles and practices which are relevant to learners in all domains, however, these modules are more health- and genomics-focused, and therefore may not be relevant for all learners.

Each training module consists of a narrated, interactive video and a quiz to assess understanding of the material. The course also includes a knowledge check, to be taken before and after completing the modules. The modules are intended to be completed in order, as concepts are built upon throughout the course. The final assessment in Module 7 assesses learning from throughout the course.
